Dear Silvey,
You've been my beloved companion since 2006. I still remember the first time I test drove you at the dealership, the heartache I felt when my Dad told me you'd been bought, and then the elation when the buyer ended up being ME & Dad surprised me at work with you.
I remember the first time I drove you to school. All the football games you took us too, all the trips to Lenox mall while skipping school, and when I took you off to college with me.
I also remember the time I forgot to make sure you had enough oil and you shut down while I was going 80 in the far left lane of the highway (no worries, I obvs made it over before becoming roadkill). The time when I hit a pothole too hard and cracked one of your badass chrome rims...and the time I cracked another one while driving over a stray 2x4 on the interstate. Oh and all the times you overheated on me when I was a little careless on making sure you had enough coolant.
You've always been a temperamental little car but you've served me well. You've been a great car to have from high school and into college. You're pretty good on gas and your back seat has the perfect amount of room for the kiddos car seats. For being 12 years old, you're in pretty decent shape.
Until Monday, I've been lucky to only pay a few repair bills on top of routine maintenance. Monday, I finally got you back after getting fixed up with a new head gasket, motor mounts, and a bunch of other shiz that I honestly zoned out on while the mechanic was explaining. I might have almost been sick handing over my debit card BUT I was thrilled to finally have you back in my possession.
It's been a weird few months trying to figure out exactly whats wrong and finally getting it fixed but you're all better now. I promise to keep your gas tank full, check your oil & fluids (well...Dad will do that part), and try not to drive you over any crazy potholes. The only thing I'm asking you in return is...
PLEASE DON'T BREAK AGAIN...
well, at least in 2013. Your beloved owner is tapped out.

It's now my pleasure to introduce y'all to one of my newest sponsors, Kate from
Kate the (Almost) Great!! I've loved getting to know her and I was SO excited to see that she'd be spending some time on the sidebar! One thing that sets Kate apart is that she is a published author! When I have a break between summer classes and fall classes, I'm definitely picking up a copy of her nove
l, Aureole (info found here). She also self-publishes her own new material every week as a part of her Short Story Sunday!
"Hi, y'all! I'm Kate, from Kate the (Almost) Great. I'm an author, teacher, and caffeine addict in my early twenties, originally from Maine. About a year ago, I published my first novel, and I'm heading into my first year teaching high school English down in Tennessee. I'm into reading, writing, fashion magazines, yoga, monograms, advocacy for arthritis research, color coding, and coffee. So come on by and join me!"
